WAS: What Adults are Saying about "Patterned Chaos"
It begs three important questions that can get us out of today's rabbit hole
Just like Top-40 radio, 47 and his administration continue on a daily path where its “all hits all the time”. The jaw-dropping extremism of much of it is everywhere and of course strikes us as so absurd that we quickly seek ways to place it in some psychological order. Humans hate chaos and especially the ambiguity it produces and its sustained thumping now has many wondering if “normal” America is forever gone.
Knowing this 47 and team spend their time mouthing what we might term patterned chaos—that is a consistent effort in fomenting a social scramble in what might be loosely termed a “strategy”. Chaos specifics don’t matter much—as long as what’s said seeks to change the role of government as service to its people. Saying or threatening something too outrageous is virtually impossible and none of this is really surprising—having been laid out a year ago in the authoritarian manifesto, Project 2025.
What is often intimated by it is the President of the United States has omnipotent authority to run the country solely on his terms (he doesn’t). Suggested also on things like international trade is that he has the force of will and skill to change things to his liking (no one can—but especially this putz). What’s never intimated is how these actions benefit Americans in ways that can be credibly justified by third parties or worse, how they are consistent with a President’s oath office.
So far, little announced by 47 and parasites shows anything leaning toward making things better for Americans. He and our dreadful Kool-Aid sipping neighbors who support him will want to tell it differently. Snatching graduate students off of city streets or disobeying court orders or sharing classified plans with a journalist via text or extorting big law firms (many of whom have responded with an impossibility— further damaging the image of lawyers) are just all so many little details that is part of restoring our country to “greatness.” The absurdity level is so high and detached from reality one is reminded of 1970s concert-going friends proclaiming they can “see the notes coming out of the guitar.” Surely they were more linked to the real world then what today comes from Washington.
All that is evident here is madness—deeper by the day—creating the desired effect of social confusion, existential paralysis and an insidious, numbing fear that among other things has begun to eat the faces of 47’s many supporters. Far too many spend their days submerged in a rabbit hole trying to piece it all together. Yet, with a couple of exceptions, the fact remains their is nothing to assemble. As previously noted here, but two things are the motivating this full-court government nonsense, and again, none of it surprises. Trump is heavily compromised by Putin and the 2025 Jesus freaks who envision a “more Christian America.”
But it does raise some companion questions that beg to be explored in the name of escaping the information black-hole and putting some parameters around 47’s sustaining nonsense.
How deep is the Putin tie and where is it going?
The singular worst President (and that’s saying something) and least capable Executive branch government leader in history is severely compromised by a country that has been our sworn enemy for 80 years. With crooked-teeth Brits and Russians we won WW II, narrowly. Truman’s overkill at Hiroshima and Nagasaki gave historians other stuff to chew but as that war unfolded in both European and Asian theaters, the games were essentially a “pick-em.” Russia left the team before that victory was even secured even though the Allies’ action has been reinforced as a righteous guiding light through the 20th century and much of the first quarter of the 21st. Now for whatever reason (transactional benefit? Putin blackmail? something worse?) 47, as an American President, is a cuckold to Russia.
The mine can’t conjure why and how this happened. But it has. Putin the ever crafty KGB loyalist from the Cold War, has punked America badly and understood early what many now know, 47 is a fool without peer. In the spy world such dopes are known as “useful”. To Putin 47 in leading America is a jackpot falling in his lap. In hammering Russia back into the Middle Ages he is buoyed in knowing that 47 is his consort—in all possible ways that term might imply.
Where, why and how this goes needs to be question number one on the lips of any who want to get near something called the “facts” and anyone else who envisions living their lives as American citizens in their home country. Take note: This is the biggest “security” breach in American history and it hasn’t occurred from defense failures. Russia and Putin have been invited into the White House for who knows what nefarious reasons. Where does that go and why?
When will media remnants start looking at the forest?
Meanwhile 47 and his clown college carry on revealing their collective intellect is thinner than a micro chip. They like to do this because it ties legacy and most new media in knots detailing just how stupid is this buffoonish gang. But just as written in the previous sentence, incessantly finding ways to describe the abject stupidity of the administration, is in itself, more than a minor victory for 47 and his sucklers.
Fighting MAGA with facts is more useless than Don Quixote on a world tour. That establishment has no reality because it gets in the way of everything. Far from the “alternative facts” of his first administration, 47 doesn’t care for logic because the essence of his charismatic political movement is anti-logic. This isn’t a 1980s debate about Ronald Regan’s insidious trickle down economics, its about a world view that “facts” have led America astray. It was “facts”, the thinking goes, that gave us pernicious vaccines, drag queens, DEI policies, growing equality for minorities, same-sex marriage and a million other things. Those facts—married with contemporary sensibilities—”ruined” America by making it a place where expertise and knowledge loomed hostile to the pre-destined, gerbil on the wheel efforts that is 47’s intellect and his tiresome followers.
That means fighting this administration with facts is useless. Worse, queries about the details of policies and decisions (how did you arrive at the tariff amounts?) is just more can-kicking to delay real problem discussion. In new media a cottage industry has emerged seeing who can slay 47 with the most caustic profanity. It’s all thumb twiddling. What’s left of media today is hacking at individual trees with questions while MAGA forests grow. “Standard”, “common”, the “office of the President” and whatever quaint notions which drove the fourth estate are poison right now—literally killing how most in media can do their jobs before they even try. An outstanding summary of this is found here and explains heightening descriptions of MAGA stupidity are essentially pointless.
Until the questions and framing of 47’s behavior occurs within different parameters the “news” will be irrelevant or worse. To get a nation to understand the scale and scope of 47 changing this is critical. Americans cannot readily come to understand the consequences of daily decisions if media, new and old, don’t break the funk that now shows them as feckless and a secondary character in the clown show.
What is the merit, and especially backbone, of the growing resistance to this all?
Widespread public demonstrations of April 5th suggest many Americans have already had it. Shock and dismay have already been translated into peaceful action. But for what and to what end might this effort be sustained? Will project 50501 organizers build a movement that will move the political needle or will it simply be a safety-valve where reasonable people can blow off steam?
The first wave of protests revealed marchers were largely white. How will that movement engage communities of color? How will it get paycheck-to-paycheck citizens to carve out time and energy for something bigger than them? Those protests also received surprisingly weak coverage on national news platforms. Corporate media toe-sucking of 47 has been evident for weeks, but the recent demonstrations may have been the largest since the Vietnam War and certainly since the last time 47 was in office. By any mind-bending reality that’s news. Will this dilute whatever a decentralized “resistance” has to offer? Moreover, what tactics can that resistance deploy that squeezes Washington? These aren’t merely questions to be discussed at a Sunday afternoon salon.
Even though folks in many corners of a round world are stunned by 47 in his second iteration, quite frankly, they shouldn’t be. Little that has unfurled to date was unexpected or at least plausible under the absurd malfeasance of 47 and team. Shock and consistently exclaiming OMG! on social media does nothing (except maybe depress all your followers). To actively resist or not is a personal decision—so make it! Regardless of your choice demand attention to these three questions so that all Americans can more clearly understand what is happening and where it shall take us.
