The copious list of 47’s failures continues at center stage inviting national embarrassment. Just within the last few days he championed a snoozer of a military parade where few came while millions peacefully demonstrated against him. He all but declared war on immigrants who may, or may not, be undocumented—particularly in what he considers Democratic states. He arrived at the annual G7 in Canada, then promptly revealed his declining mental health in childish ways to the point that Canadian prime minister Mark Carney had to pat him on the head. His dubious record of “winning” is now so poor the Colorado Rockies—playing .208 ball—would beat him in a four-game sweep. Our President is at a greater level of disarray than ever before—and that’s saying something.
Most dangerously he has fumbled the US onto the edges of another Middle East conflict fueled by reasons that are also of his doing. Ongoing Israeli attacks against Iran purportedly are about nuclear bomb capabilities. During the Obama administration diplomacy yielded an agreement where that was mitigated. Upon arrival to Washington during his first term 47 promptly broke that treaty simply because it was something successfully achieved by Obama. This nonsense created the rare achievement of a Presidential screw up created simply by undoing his predecessor’s success.
On the heels of the Israel/Gaza morass and with Israel’s Prime Minister aware that his days in office are directly linked to maintaining active war theaters, Benjamin Netanyahu and others are pressing for further US involvement. This on a “threat” that didn’t even exist for the Israeli’s or anyone else until 47 unspooled Obama’s completed work. Moreover, this comes at a time when China keeps rattling swords against Taiwan, Ukraine and Russia are stalemated and leaders everywhere wonder who is running the US because it sure isn’t the cognitively disabled 47.
Further US involvement would almost surely invite a greater risk of a broader “war” in some of the above areas and elsewhere. It would potentially make America a more direct player in a regional conflict ongoing for millenia about one of the most of all unanswerable questions: Who has the better God? It would make Americans abroad, and here, less safe and while we swat domestic terrorists both inside and outside of government, international players will have renewed energy to bring “Death to America.” Calling this all a potential “mess” is a severe understatement. Believing 47 can lead the country safely through it is about as likely as Phoenix snow in July.
Consider a broader conflict into which NATO allies are drawn. It won’t even clarify on which side the US stands in such a skirmish! That doubt has been sowed for months by 47’s ridiculous endorsement of Vladimir Putin and attempted bullying of Ukraine’s President. As 47, with his gelded sidekick J.D. Vance, chided Volodymyr Zelensky about “holding no cards” the latter was planning a stunning attack within Russian. Once successful 47, head of the key country in the NATO coalition backing Ukraine, didn’t call Zelensky to offer congratulations. Instead, he called Putin! For what who knows, reinforcing the dirtiest Washington secret about which no one speaks—the US President is compromised by the Russians!
Into this surrealistic mayhem now further shuffles 47—having prematurely left the G-7—so that he could return to Washington amid this growing challenge. He now seems to endorse dismantling the Iranian nuclear program—or at least what’s left of it after Israel’s bombings. This is the same diplomatic point President Obama had achieved more than a decade ago!
With growing stakes amid deteriorating cognition what will 47 do next? His administration is without seasoned diplomatic skill—those positions having been filled with either MAGA lackeys or other felons who were extorted. The rate of international respect loss is in free fall. The dollar is down some 10% since the inauguration and the more the administration restricts travel to the US the more it invites greater embarrassment and economic chaos. Into this we expect to be credibly led by a petulant old man with an eighth-grade vocabulary and failing health? Puhleez! America has never been less diplomatically equipped to work growing international strife. Of all the ton-of-bricks nonsense 47 has heaped onto his people over the years this one may be the most dangerous.
I think 47 has neither the cojones nor the aptitude for a full on hot war. More likely we continue selling arms to Israel (long one of our best defense industry customers) while he cheerleads on the sidelines. Maybe we’ll do a missile strike or two at worst.
47 is straddling the line between end times evangelicals who are absolutely creaming their pants about this “prophetic” war and the xenophobic isolationists who want America involved in absolutely nothing beyond our shores.
